Reflections: Loving God, reveal to me those things that stand in the way of fully and completely serving and loving you. Amen.

Music Ministry

keyboardSt. Mark’s Lutheran Church has a wide variety of music opportunities for both vocalists and instrumentalists.

Contemporary Service

The Contemporary service at St. Mark’s is musically supported by the Praise Group. A variety of music is sung by this group of enthusiastic individuals and is usually accompanied by piano, guitar, flute and drums. The Praise Group practices are on Thursday nights from 8:15-9:30 p.m., as well as the occasional Friday Evening rehearsal. The Group is open to anyone who wants to come and participate. (A bass guitar player would be a great addition to this ensemble!)

Traditional Service

The traditional service is musically supported by the choir. A variety of traditional (and occasionally not-so-traditional music) is sung, accompanied by the organ, and occasionally by the piano. New members are always welcome. Practices are on Thursdays from 7:00-8:15 p.m. up in the loft.

Sunday School

Sunday morning Sunday School also offers a music program. Budding junior musicians have the opportunity to learn new songs, and to sing and participate in a Christmas Program, as well as during Sunday morning services on occasion. It is a wonderful opportunity to introduce music to young children, from Nursery to Grade 8.

The Music Ministry Program at St. Marks’ is active and ongoing, and offers everyone the opportunity to participate, whatever the skill level. New members are welcome, and encouraged to attend, in whatever way possible. Past events have also included opportunities to sing with Bramwell Tovey and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, a Christian Musical entitled “Call Waiting”, as well opportunities to sing at National Gatherings such as the LWF convention, held in Winnipeg in 2002. In addition, our yearly Harvest Fest and Senior’s Dinner, have given all musicians (both older and younger) the chance to sing and play instruments to a less formal, but much appreciative audience.

Be sure to speak to the Director of Music Ministry, Michele Barr if you are interested in any of these opportunities.
