Developing a relationship with God is important during a child’s early years, and for this reason St. Mark’s considers Children’s Education a vital part of its ministry.
St. Mark’s offers Sunday school for children from age three to Grade 8. The program runs concurrently with regular Sunday morning worship. Children attend the service for the first 15 minutes or so. Following the Pastor’s Children’s Message, they move downstairs to the Sunday School classrooms.
St. Mark’s Sunday school has an enrollment of approximately 90 children with an average attendance of 40 – 45 on a weekly basis. Combinations of grades in six classes vary from year to year, depending on the number of students in each grade. Fourteen volunteers share the teaching positions, with a coordinator, assistant coordinator overseeing the Sunday school. All teachers are required to undergo a police record check as per our Vulnerable Persons Policy.
The Sunday School program normally begins mid-September and runs through to the last Sunday in May.
There is no Sunday School on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday or the May long weekend.
Parents wanting to register a child in the Sunday School program are asked to contact the church office. A member of our staff will be pleased to connect you with the appropriate person.
